You can now change the images in Hatena Star2007-09-12 22:38:09

We have added a new Hatena Star function, allowing you to easily change images by altering settings on a style sheet.

With this new feature, you can change the images used for the Comment Button, Add Button, and the Star in the following way:

/* To designate the image for your Comment Button within the URL */
.hatena-star-comment-button-image {
  background-image: url(http://exapmle.com/comment.gif);

/* To designate the image for your Add Button within the URL */
.hatena-star-add-button-image {
  background-image: url(http://exapmle.com/add.gif);

/* To designate the image for your Star within the URL */
.hatena-star-star-image {
  background-image: url(http://exapmle.com/star.gif);

For example, if you want to replace your Stars with elephants () designed by rikuo, you will enter the following:

.hatena-star-star-image {
  background-image: url(http://f.hatena.ne.jp/images/fotolife/r/rikuo/20070529/20070529235853_m.jpg);

You may continue using JavaScript in your image file, however, we recommend using the style sheet in the future.

We hope you enjoy using this new feature.

New API calculates the total number of Stars added to your blog2007-09-12 00:47:56

We have added an application programming interface (API) that will compile information from your blogs registered with Hatena Star.

By entering a URL like the example below, you can retrieve information from your blogs using JSON (JavaScript Object Notation).

Example: http://s.hatena.com/blog.json/http://d.hatena.com/hatenastar/

JSON will retrieve data from your blogs and compile it in the following way, displaying your blog title, URL, and the number of Stars received.

  "title": "Hatena Star Diary",
  "star_count": "72017",

This will also be compatible with JSONP by adding a callback parameter.

Example: http://s.hatena.com/blog.json/http://d.hatena.com/hatenastar/?ca...

This API, which retrieves the number of Stars added to a blog, has been introduced on a trial basis. We will be making adjustments and adding other applications dependent on how this feature is utilized.

We hope you enjoy using this new feature.

You can now change your blog titles2007-09-12 00:03:30

We have made modifications to enable editing of blog titles registered with Hatena Star.

To make changes to a blog title, go to your Blogs page (e.g. http://s.hatena.com/username/blogs ) and click on the pencil icon next to the title. A window will pop up where you can enter a new title for your blog.

You can only make changes to titles of your own blogs.

In the past, you were unable to change the title you entered once you registered your blog. In response to your requests, we have now made modifications to allow changes to your blog title even after it has been registered.
